Mother Duck was sitting on her eggs waiting for them to hatch. Very soon she heard a cracking noise out of their shells. The ducklings quacked and fell over each other. As Mother Duck them playing, she was sure that one of them was different from the rest. He was a dull grey colour and much bigger than the other ducklings.
Mother Duck then the ducklings to the water and all of them, even the odd one, soon learnt to swim. She was that he would look better as he got older, but the
ducks and the hens in the farmyard made fun of him. They him and bit him and 'Ugly Duckling when he went by.
Poor Ugly Duckling! He so unhappy because no one liked him that he ran away from the farmyard into the big world.
